PURPOSE

Why Should You Engage?

If you have ever felt like public officials often make decisions that do not benefit the public, or openly dishonor God with their position, could it be that they have no one engaging them with truth and love and helping them realize their position and very life were meant to glorify God?  We are not simply talking about a quick email in relation to an upcoming bill to pass or not...  but we are talking about actual gospel witness, prayer, and meaningful engagement.  Perhaps the Church across Kansas, in particular YOU, will find it a wonderful responsibility and honor to engage.

A THEOLOGICAL REASON

A Biblical Call to Engage

The Church is to be faithfully engaging culture with the witness of the kingdom of God through preaching, praying, and fruit-bearing. This witness is to be made to all humans, human institutions, and human rulers. The scriptures reveal that the Spirit, through the apostle Paul, clearly calls the Church to pray for rulers (1 Timothy 2:1,2) and to witness to the gospel of the kingdom before kings (Acts 9:15). We believe it to be a scriptural mandate for the Church to engage governmental leaders with the gospel, prayer, ethics, and the love of the kingdom of God.

KINGDOM CONVERSATIONS

Engaging The Topic

Talking about church and state can be an avoided topic at times, but the Kingdom of God is meant to infiltrate all of society, including government.   Our Kingdom Conversation Podcast interviews pastors and leaders from around Kansas and is engaging the topic with grace and wisdom.  Here is our latest episode.

PASTORS ARE TAKING ACTION

What Those Engaging Are Saying

Kindness Over Criticism

“Most of them [public servants] don't ever get encouragement….  So, we try to teach our church to encourage them to help give them a good email rather than all the bad ones.”

Jeff Isaacs, Pastor
Riverlawn Christian, Wichita, KS

Influencing Those In Positions

“Political parties and government aren’t our savior, but they do shape much of our culture.”

Nick Martineau, Pastor

Hope Community Church, Wichita, KS

We are a City on A Hill

"We need Christians in every facet.  We need Christians as doctors...in the workplace and entrepreneurialism and ministry and missions and in government. These are not separate, but threaded together."

Jon Morris, Pastor

Vima Church, Wichita, KS
