Over the last decade there has been an increasing conviction, among those in the Church that care deeply about our government ruling righteously, that the primary problem with the brokenness we see in our governmental leaders and institutions is actually to be found in the negligence of the Church's gospel witness and mission to both. Biblically the Church is to be salt and light in the culture at large, and especially among those who lead our government. When she is extracted from the process inevitably decay begins to happen at the moral and ethical level. 

 

As it relates to the Church's involvement in this arena, we believe that she can do better than either nationalism or neglect. One is a misguided over-reach and the other a misinformed under-reach. The Church is not to reach for political power. Nor is the Church to go MIA in its influential biblical witness to governmental leaders. 

 

In many states, including Kansas, there is an awakening happening among church leaders to a biblical call of the Church to mission to governmental leaders in a non-partisan way. There are multiple iterations of this across America. In Kansas we have what we call ENGAGE. This is a mission organization that exists to engage the Church to fulfill her biblical mandate to influence governmental leaders of all parties with prayer, gospel, shepherd to shepherd engagement, and equipping to be a biblical voice in the pulpit, market square, and voting booth. ENGAGE is not a lobbyist or policy making organization. We are a missions organization serving the Church as she walks out her kingdom mandate to be a gospel witness in her generation.
